Safety training

A.L.I.C.E. Training

Alert Lockdown Inform Counter Evacuate

Schools across the country are being trained in safety procedures in the event of a emergency. Our students are accustomed to fire and lockdown drills. As part of our ALICE Training at the elementary level, Mr. Faherty and two Littleton Police Officers visited our class to discuss the importance of listening to teachers in the event of an emergency.

They talked about how school is a safe place to be. The kids responded that they felt safe here. They reviewed the fire drill procedures and why they were in place. They talked about why it was important to stay quiet and together during those times.

The officers did not address any specific scenarios but focused the lesson on following directions and not questioning the teacher in times of emergency.

We have a very imaginative class! :) Their response to each "what if...." question was "Listen to your teacher's directions."
